Introduction
This is my first cycling blog of many more to come. I hope that you enjoy reading today’s blog as much as I enjoyed writing it. In addition to blogging about my rides and adventures I will be sharing information with regards to cycling in general. So without waiting any further lets dive into the blog for my ride on September 10, 2024
The Morning
Today’s ride was a rather satisfying one, fortunately I was able to go bed early and therefore was up by 5:20 AM.
Straight out of the bed I took my thyroid medication. After following my daily routine. Starting with offering my morning prayers, getting in the right attire and making sure my bottle is filled with water and off I was for a ride.
Due to my thyroid condition I am unable to eat for an hour post medication. Also, I am trying to shed extra weight so no breakfast for me, as one hour ride can easily be managed on an empty stomach.
Finally it was time to take my Trek Domane AL 2 for a spin. For some reason I was feeling relieved that I have gotten up early, usually when I get up late it leaves me stressed as I have to drop off my kids to school. Today I was relaxed and had sufficient margin to do so.
The Ride Begins
I started the ride at 6:15 am, I turned on tracking on my Garmin Venu SQ and started pedalling. I took the usual route with the aim of improving on my previous rides. This route is a safer option for me on weekdays as my home is within the walking distance should I experience flat tyre.
Started off slowly but started accelerating, my first lap on the same route was almost a minute faster despite running in to a gang of stray dogs which I evaded successfully without causing any major incident or else I won’t be writing this blog post.
Perks of Riding
Throughout the ride my mind wandered off in all sorts of directions. Sometimes I feel that cycling is perfect time to contemplate, strategise, conceive ideas and solve complex problems. Cycling brings out and polishes one’s creative side.
I was maybe a little too lost in my thoughts as my second lap was a minute slower compared to yesterday. Maybe it was due to the fact that I was in no rush to finish the ride today. The remaining of the ride was on track and I finished with my usual average speed and cadence.
The End
The ride was smooth one there was minor disappointment that the ride has ended. Sometimes an hour is not enough, but there will always be the next ride to look forward to.
Until then this is me Ahsan signing off from cycling files.
